Bill O’Kelly, Newbury Park, Calif., was the winner of the Southwest Council FFF raffle for a Joan Wulff Special Edition Winston flyrod.

The drawing was to have been held at the “Evening With Joan Wulff” dinner, however the event was cancelled due to an illness that didn’t permit the casting icon to travel.  The drawing was held at the Fishermen’s Spot, Van Nuys.

O’Kelly, an attorney, is president of the Sierra Pacific Flyfishers, vice president of the SWC FFF and an active angler and conservationist.  “It was both fitting and appropriate that Bill’s name be drawn as the rod winner in light of his dedication to the sport,” said Michael Schweit, president of the SWC FFF.

The rod, a 9-foot, 4-piece, 6-weight was given to the conservation and education organization by Winston as a fund raising tool.  The rod is valued at $900.  About 300 raffle tickets were sold despite the dinner cancellation.
